Cerec Machine- single visit restorations - Natural teeth, even highly destructed ones can be Mercer Island Family Dentisry Cerec Machinetreated with inlays, onlays and crown made of tooth-colored ceramic, making the restoration practically invisible. Front teeth can be enhanced using thin ceramic veneers or if necessary can be capped with full ceramic crowns. Old crowns that have lost their esthetic potential can be easily replaced with a perfect full-ceramic CEREC restoration. Small gaps between teeth can be closed with a full-ceramic bridge. All these procedures can be done exclusively in one visit . Even deficiencies on old crowns or bridges and be safely repaired.

A CEREC treatment is complex and consists of several steps. Typically It takes about 60 minutes for a single inlay. Multiple restorations will prolong the treatment accordingly. Since the treatment is interrupted by several pauses due to construction by the dentist and milling the restoration, even longer treatments times are not considered strenuous by the patient.

Mercer Island Family Dentistry Intra Oral CamerasIntra oral cameras - Is a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment, which enables you to see on a monitor what we see during your examination. This allows us to explain in more detail exactly what needs to be done to resolve any problem, such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque build-up, cavities next to fillings and excessive wear. This provides you with a better understanding of your current oral health.

The intra-oral camera handpiece has a built-in light source, and a miniature video camera with 25 times zoom magnification, so you can make informed treatment decisions with confidence.

Digital x-ray - With the digital method, a technician glides a small sensor around inside a patient's Mercer Island Family Dentistry Digital X-Raysmouth and the images instantly pop up on a computer screen in the exam room. The digital images, which look similar to traditional X-rays, can then be enlarged and manipulated, which many dentists say gives them a better feel for what's going on inside a patient's mouth.

Patients say they can more easily understand a treatment recommendation because they get a good look at the problem blown up on the screen in front of them, rather than having to squint at a postage-stamp-size shot held up to the light.

Mercer Island Family Dentistry Nitrous Oxide SedationNitrous oxide sedation - Popularly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a gas that is non-flammable and colorless. The gas is administered to the patient as part of the preparation process for a dental procedure.

Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. We administer nitrous oxide/oxygen through a small breathing mask which we place over the child’s and adults nose, allowing them to relax, but without putting them to sleep. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recognizes this technique as a very safe, effective technique to use for treating children’s dental needs. The gas is mild and easily taken. Then with normal breathing, it is quickly eliminated from the body. It is non-addictive. While inhaling nitrous oxide/oxygen, your child remains fully conscious and keeps all natural reflexes.

Dentsply Rotary ProTaper Endodontic System for Root Canals- Root canal therapy is called endodontics. Root canal therapy is a well-known procedure wherein the crown of a diseased tooth is opened so as to permit the canal to be cleaned and then filled. More particularly, as presently performed, a series of very delicate, flexible, finger-held instruments or files are used to clean out and shape the root canal, and each file is manually rotated and reciprocated in the canal by the dentist.Mercer Island Family Dentistry Rotary Pro Taper Endodontic System for Root Canals

New endodontic handpieces allow for mechanical instrumentation using the same basic concepts as hand instrumentation, but with better speed and precision. These endodontic handpieces can driven by separate desktop motors or can hook in with an existing delivery system. They use a variety of cleaning methods, from rotation to reciprocation.
